- Jack Ganssle was in Australia and visited Dave’s lab!
[tube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1apCAzCTZdQ [/tube] - Dave has interviewed others in the past like DJ Delorie and Colin Mitchell of Talking Electronics
- Chris interviewed Grant Imahara at the Superconference.
- Mythbusters is ending but had a big influence.
- Dave grew up watching the Curiosity show.
- After creating the Superconference badge using the Truchet tiles, Chris better understood what Fabienne was talking about when she was on the shoe.
- The badge modding was amazing:
- Best blinky
- Best dead bug
- Most over-the-top
- TI is reducing their student sample program. Any student listeners out there should magically become “companies”!
- Dave is considering incorporating in Wyoming, which is supposed to have a beneficial tax structure.
- Dave is amazed by the finance magic that happened around the purchase and sale of Dick Smith.
- ON semi is buying Fairchild Semi.
- Bootstrapping a programming language requires starting from low level code.
- There was a Quora article comparing D, Rust & Go.
- What the heck is “D” as a programming language, anyway?
- The Prometheus seems like a decent machine but “requires a 3rd party CAD/CAM tools”? It’d be ok if they mandated their partner site Upverter (former guests on episode 163), but a totally custom solution seems like a waste…

I missed you guys…=( could not download the usual friday podcast in my car. But I survived the weekend anyway! But I hope it will be the last time you do something like this again.

Missed you, just didn’t want to bug you about it 🙂

Welcome back!
In the void I have been enjoying some of Marcus Fuller’s videos. In particular I like his tear downs and repair videos of old drum machines and synths.

I missed last weeks non episode, but I figured Chris was busy with his maker event thing. Glad you guys are back this week though. and need to do more of the call in shows, that was great.

good show. not a fan of that grant fellow but have to admit i did like myth busters. I thought that mr wizard or what was it.. bill nye the science guy was broadcasted at a time long before myth busters, with multimedia being more accessible around the world now, i’m not sure if comparing the two shows like that makes much sense, but I’m probably wrong.
I know this isn’t the solution that Dave was looking for, with easy PCB designing, but Chuck Adams’ “MUPPET method” may be a good option for some people. You can learn about it via resources on his website such as http://www.k7qo.net/muppet-madness.pdf .
Loud Howard. And the complete series of Dilbert is free to watch on Crackle.com (or was last time I checked). That is where I was exposed to it.
Of course we missed you guys! I don’t know how I survived last week without hearing my favorite internet odd couple. Glad to have you back.
I concur with Dave’s proposed Call-In show schedule. It was obviously a big hit. I think you can probably expect to get more callers now that the first show was made and people have an idea of what to expect. Maybe do a poll or a survey to see the number of potential callers out there and the possible topics… or not.
Keep up the good work guys.

I missed you! But kind of hard to make a comment on a none existing podcast. Keep up the good work.

Hi guys, yes u were missed. Bit of a narcissist return show though….

I too missed you guys last week but figured there was a problem with my app or the aggregator.
I liked the call in show a lot, but it was missing something. Maybe a puzzler that Dave can never remember from last time in the third half of the show? Or “Shunt the chumps”. I can’t wait for the first call where you have to settle a couple’s dispute.

Bill Nye never made it to Australia, I wonder if any of the others did.. Beakman’s World.. or the popular Captain Kangaroo with Slim Goodbody!

Looking forward to watching Nick Sayer talk (DFM: Building 10^n isn’t the same as building one)!

I also missed last weeks podcast, but assumed that you guys were taking a break. Also, as this content is free it seemed a bit churlish to demand/moan about the missing show :).

Hey Guys,
The call in show was great. I will learn more practical electronics from these questions than I normally would from a regular show. I’m not crapping on the regular shows, but there’s not a lot of technical explanation in there. Adam Carolla has a home improvement podcast that takes call ins, video questions, and twitter questions. I’ve learned a ton from his show and can’t wait to learn a lot more here as well.
Count one “Aye!” vote for the three week rotation: Interview, “This Shit” (Dave’s phasing), and a call in show.

Dave, try adjusting monitor DPI in windows instead of using scaling.

If you want to try out a hacker camp coming August.
Try Electromagnetic Fields in the UK. It was really fun 2 years ago.
