Anyone of you guys coming?

I actually might. It’s just a two hour drive by car from my place.

I will be there! Will try to do a meetup.
Enrico Sanino says
Hi, is the meetup happening? You have the link to it, in case I manage to join? 🙂
Chris Gammell says
Nothing yet planned! But will post to the subreddit and let people know on the show if we do.

Regarding “Ready Player Two”, the author surely was inspired by “Brainstorm”, the 1983 movie (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainstorm_(1983_film))
MaraJade says
OMG, Brainstorm was amazing for the time.
Ever see Strange Days (1995)? If you liked Brainstorm, you’ll love Strange Days.
Keith Jasinski says
Yes I found myself yelling at the podcast when you guys were talking about popular media and the computer/brain interface concept. Brainstorm is really the first pop-cultural reference to that concept that I am aware of.
It is truly a classic starring Christopher Walken, Louise Fletcher and Natalie Wood. In face it was Natalie Wood’s last movie as she died during it’s production under suspicious circumstances. I watched it again a few months ago and just shake my head at so much of it. Things that were common place in 1983 and completely unacceptable now. For example, the number of cigarettes that Louise Fletcher’s character goes thru on screen is STAGGERING. It makes some very interesting commentaries on big business vs. startups that are still relevant today. They also explore some of the very scary way that such technology could be abused.
Chris, you’d probably find it interesting because they imply that it takes place in the medical triangle you now call home.
Keith Jasinski says
Well OK, maybe not. There are a few companies they show in the background that are medical triangle based but also some distinctly Silicon Valley… so probably just a fictional blend.
