The “S” in IoT Degree stands for Security.
The Bitcoin discussion reminded me of a recent Security Now podcast where they told the story of a piece of malware that can steal your Bitcoin in an incredibly simple way. It hides in the background and monitors your clipboard and if you cut and paste a bitcoin address it changes the address in the clipboard between the cut and paste.
I imagine it was discovered after something like this:
“I sent you the Bitcoin…”
“I never got it.”
“I sent it to the address right in your email…What the hell, whose address is this? It doesn’t match your email.”

Loved the curve tracer talk!
Radiolab just did an episode about the creation of a digital currency and the crazy lengths they went thru to make sure it wasn’t hacked during a critical moment.. there was also a great twist at the end!
There’s also an old freakonmics podcast (as well as a recent tim ferris podcast) that goes into great detail about the virtues of quitting.. it’s not always a good idea to be persistent, and knowing when to quit is just as important!
